Hi everyone,

Now that your nails are all clean and clipped, it’s time to treat them to a little strengthening treatment! Just as you apply lotion and conditioner to the rest of your body, your nails can really benefit from regular oil and moisturizer application. And since no one likes brittle nails, today I thought I’d share a nail strengthening solution that you can make with only 3 basic ingredients…

This recipe from TheDailyGreen.com is made of castor oil, wheat germ oil and salt. Castor oil is a skin soother, and it “forms a tough, shiny film when driedâ€?. It’s used in nail polishes, hair products, lipsticks and more. Wheat germ is high in vitamin E, so wheat germ oil is great in conditioners and other emollients.

Vegetable Oil Nail Strengthener
(Makes 20-30 applications)

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp castor oil

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp wheat germ oil

Directions:

  1. Pour all ingredients into a sealable bottle.
  2. Before each use shake well.
  3. Rub a small amount of the mixture onto your nails.
  4. Leave on for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Wipe off with a cotton pad.

Do you put treatments on your nails? Which ones do you like?
