It’s easy to get makeup ideas from runway beauty looks – they might not all work for real life, but they’re great inspiration for special occasions, costumes and more. The other day I was browsing through beauty sites and stumbled upon this…well, interesting use of eyeliner on the Michael Kors Spring 2013 runways:
Pretty wild, right? Shiseido artistic director Dick Page created these looks, and he calls it a “floating line”. Instead of following common beauty protocol and swiping on eyeliner as close to the lash line as possible, he used bright blues and greens in a banana shape above the eye’s natural crease. The result is definitely daring, to say the least.
Rag & Bone had a similar idea, but toned it down for fall by sticking to black lines paired with petal-stained lips:
I definitely don’t think this is a look that I could rock for everyday…but then again, there are beauty trends now that may have seemed pretty crazy when they first emerged years ago too! (Read: glitter eyeshadow)
