Hi everyone,
Clarifying shampoos are wonderful for brightening your hair and giving it new life. Shampoo and conditioner don’t always get rid of all the dirt, grease, and leftover product, leaving your hair lackluster and dull. If you need a less expensive alternative to the clarifying shampoos on the market, there’s an easy DIY hair rinse to revitalize your luscious locks. All you need is a little bit of apple cider vinegar!
Apple cider vinegar has an ingredient called acetic acid, which is what breaks down any build up on your hair and scalp. It will also balance the hair’s pH level to give you more shine and to bring out the color. A bonus is that apple cider vinegar will kill bacteria, so you know that your hair will be beautiful and germ-free afterwards.
Follow these easy steps for my DIY clarifying hair rinse:
- After you’ve shampooed your hair, apply 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to your hair and scalp. Leave it in for five minutes.
- Rinse the vinegar out with warm water and then cold water. The hot water opens up the pores in your hair so that the apple cider vinegar truly penetrates the hair shaft, while the cold water will seal your hair, making it even shinier. Then condition your hair as you usually would. Just be sure to avoid getting any vinegar in your eyes while you do this!
What are your tricks for revitalizing your hair? Let me know in the comments section!

My grandmother used to put white viniger in my and my sisters hair growing up. I thought because it smells nice, does to me anyway. Now i usually pour white viniger in my bath. Smells great and also heard it keeps you tight 'down there' not that i need it or anything!! -
Hey Michelle, i was wondering if you know anything about castor oil. I heard they're really good for growing hair and moisturising it afterwards. I wanted your advice since you seem to be a lot more experience with beauty products and such. And I tried this a long back, works great!! -

ok, so today for another day of 7th grade at school, i scrunged my hair and it was really frizzy! does anyone know how to make it so it doesn't get really frizzy? -
OH apple cider is amazing for lots of things, my mom used to apply this on my hair when i was a kid, she also made a mixed of apple cider and honey that my doctor told her about and I had to drink it afterwards, it was the best way to kill louse ! Being a kid with really tight curly hair and catching louse was HELL most of the time trust me !!!
But it's true apple cider really gives you shiny hair, i think i'll add it to my shopping list next time and start the treatment again. -
Yes it works! I saw it in a magazine a few years back. I think it was Glamour.
I saved the article, "To fight dullness, rinse your hair with a cup of apple cider vinegar after shampooing. Then apply a hot-oil treatment such as VO5 ($3, drugstore.com) and pop on a shower cap for 30 minutes. Your hair will emerge shiny and healthy-looking."
Never did the hot oil treatment but the vinegar worked perfectly fine! =) -

Me personally I couldn't stand the smell so I don't do this as often but I always get my ends trimmed and do deep conditioner treatments to keep my hair in tip top shape -

Will definitely try this, but is it still ok for sensitive/oily scalps?

This is also very good for getting rid of dandruff. I used this hair rinse before and it left my hair and scalp feeling super refreshed and clean! -
Hmmm. This doesn't look good for my hair, I think I'll stick to the argan oil. My hair doesn't tend to deteriorate... -
I already knew this, I have been doing fora while now and it does work, my hair looks healthier. -
Great tips... I usually don't "do it myself" when it comes to my hair... but I will def try this.

I tried using baking soda, but it didn't come out right. I think I used too much water? Anyway, I love your tips! -
