Currently Loving: Mixing Stripes & Leopard Print

Jan 3, 2013 at 4:00am by Michelle Phan

 Hi everyone,

Right now, I can’t seem to get enough of mixing stripes and leopard print. It’s a bold and daring way to wear two prints at once, and the stripes and semi-circular shapes almost seem to balance each other out. It’s a cool mélange of the safari and nautical themes. Check out this street style snapshot of Jenna Lyons, J Crew’s super chic creative director:

To pull off this look, it’s best to keep the rest of the outfit simple so that nothing else detracts from the exciting pattern pairing. My favorite way to pull off this look is to start with a striped T-shirt or sweater and then to add a leopard print scar or a pair of leopard print loafers.

Here are some outfit ideas to inspire you in your own style endeavors:

1. J. Cre Painter Boatneck Tee in Stripe
2. H&M Tube Scarf
3. ASOS Timeless Quinn Ballet Pumps
4. ModCloth Tights
5. Topshop Black Ribbed Pleated Skirt

1. Delias Shine raglan Pullover Sweater
2. Aldo Ostlie
3. H&M Pants

What do you think of mixing stripes and leopard? Let me know what your thoughts are in the comments section!

i'm not usually a fan of leopard print, but the scarf in the first outfit looks nice and chic, and more subtle than a jumper :) HTTP://CLOUDSANDCUTICLEOIL.BLOGSPOT.CO.UK/ xx

I adore look number 1. It's summer in australia right now but so wish it was winter so I could get something similar to the outfit.

THIS IS CU-TE! A couple days ago I was in a rush to change and leave the house so I put on a striped t-shirt, jeans, and a leopard bracelet. Subtle but it looked nice. Excited to try more.

Whoa, Jenna is super chic, big like!

I've worn leopard print in this week's LBD project post and co-incidentally stripes, the week before. Maybe time to try together, I do appreciate a mash-up of prints!

I love layering striped shirt with my leather jacket (check this post out : http://searchingforlbd.blogspot.fi/2012/09/chic-geek.html )

The pleated skirt is actually top 1 in my shopping list, but unfortunately I haven't managed to find it yet.

I'm not a big fan of either leopard print or strips, so I'm probably not gonna try this, but I do like this look.
