Hi everyone,
You know I love a good DIY face mask and the baking soda & orange juice mask is one that I have to share. This mask is perfect for acne-prone skin; it will eliminate blackheads and oil. Baking soda is a great acne-fighter and exfoliator. And the acid in orange juice tightens pores while the vitamin C brightens skin. You’re only two ingredients and 20 minutes away from beautiful skin!

Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon of real orange juice (best if freshly squeezed)
- 1 tablespoon of baking soda
Instructions:
- Mix 1 teaspoon real orange juice with 1 tablespoon baking soda.
- Spread a thin layer on your face.
- Leave on for 20 minutes. The paste will dry and any facial movements could cause it to flake off, so no talking!
- Dampen fingers with water and lightly scrub in circular motions for extra exfoliation.
- Rinse off and follow with moisturizer.
Your skin may be a little rosy afterwards, so it’s best to do the mask before bed. I recommend you use this mask no more than 1-2 times a week, but you can get the acne-fighting power of baking soda in a daily cleanser too.
Do you have a great homemade face mask on your blog? I would love to feature it here on MichellePhan.com! I’ve started a new Forum thread, post your links in it here and I’ll share my favorites.

I can't wait to try this! If only I hadn't just run out of orange juice three days ago. Off to the grocery store!
Kindness is the best accessory,

I like the tip (can I call it like that) but I need to know something: can you use orange juice from the grocery store? because we have no oranges. please let me now! -
i want to try a mask that really exfoliates but i have really sensitive skin please Mich post one for sensitive skin :( -
A little more of a week ago I saw this tutorial for the orange juice-baking soda mask, and I saw a comment that warned about the dangers about this mask, which this person already tried and was left with scars due the intense burn it suffered.
This person was saying something important that someone with a sensitive skin will appreciate, I don't know if this person removed the post (I don't think so) or if it was an admin, but I wanted to know the answer to this person, if this mask is considered "too strong" for some kind of skins a little warning would be appreciated. You can't always answer "yummi" "cute" or "what do you think? [insert smiley here]" sometimes you have to answer more complex comments (and the comment wasn't even offensive). -
Haha, sitting here and can't move my face! the mask feels really good, I do believe it will help. did anyone else experience som itching when you applied it? -

Some great whitening masks I know of are these:
Take 1 tablespoon of GRAM flour and 2 teaspoons of RAW milk and 2-3 drops of lime juice then heat in the microwave for 10-20 seconds until warm. Then leave on 15 minutes before washing off. You can use this every other day for two weeks, then every four days for another two weeks, then once a week for good results. Of course, if your skin isn't taking it well, then use it less, and if your skin really loves it, use it more. Just until you whiten your skin to the point you want it, of course.
Another mask you can use is a honey and almond mask. Take about 5-7 almonds and throw them in a cup full of warm to boiling water, then put it on the counter to soak overnight, or 10-12 hours. (If you go to school, pop them in during the morning and leave it until night. Also, warm/boiling water is optional, it just works quicker if you leave it.) If you dont want to use raw almonds, then you can also use 1/2 a teaspoon almond oil. Take a tablespoon of raw honey and heat it for a few seconds, you can use regular honey if you want but raw is best. Then a mix teaspoon of milk powder, and a teaspoon of lemon juice. Last but not least, strain the water out of the almonds, mash the almonds off until a paste, and mix it into the mask. Make sure the mask is not too hot and test it on your wrist before applying to your face.
If you don't have certain ingredients in your home for your mask, then just skip them.
(Warning: Don't go outside with lemon juice on your face.)
Also, a couple other things: Raw potato slices can be rubbed on your face, and it will help whiten. :)
Have fun with your DIY masks! <3

What are your favorite kinds of masks to do? Moisturizing? Clarifying? Pore-tightening? Let me know what you prefer!-

I do all kinds of masks! Sometimes I feel like my skin is dehydrated, so I do a moisturizing mask made with a base of raw honey, yogurt, raw milk or even mashed avocado! I do at least one a month just to keep my skin in check.
I do a lot of exfoliating because my skin takes it well, with bases of coffee, brown sugar, or baking soda to help clear out my pores. When my pores are clean then my pores look smaller, if I want them smaller, I do a special strawberry ice, green tea ice, or mix ice facial.
For acne I do a bit of exfoliating first, then I do a little bit of moisturizing yogurt for a base, maybe a little bit of apple cider (My skin takes that very well for some reason) and some ginger to keep the blood circulation going well. -

I GOTTA TRY THIS :)
My friend recommended using yogurt and something else i can't really remember ... anyone can give me a clue? :) -
I absolutely adore making scrubs, not face masks, but exfoliators! I don't know why, but it's so fun.
All the ingredients I use are organic and all natural.
I thought I'd share making my favorite body scrub.
Take one tablespoon of coffee and a table spoon of brown sugar and pour it into a small bowl. These will be your base exfoliators, the caffeine helps skin to look bright, and the brown sugar adds moisture. Then add a tea spoon of nutmeg and a tea spoon of cinnamon to promote blood flow. Last but not least add a tea spoon of sea salt or epsom salt, this will keep keep oily areas on your skin like your shoulders, back, or chest (depending on different people) from getting acne and will promote clean skin. :)
Then just mix it up and put it in a bag or container, this will last you three to four scrubs. For dry skin, skip the salt and add two tablespoons of raw honey. It will add moisture to your skin while smoothing off dead skin cells. :)-

Well I don't recommend eating epsom salts- many epsom salts are used as laxatives! (Plus bathsalts may give you the munchies for faces {If you've heard the news recently}, and we aren't zombies here x) )
But if you want a yummy tea, instead of regular sugar I always use brown sugar or honey, I think it tastes better. <3 You can make your own spice tea which is pretty tasty~

Here's my tomato mask!

I found this recipe for exfoliating that I love. Take a tsp of apple cider vinegar, a tbsp of crushed up rolled oats, and add some honey, apply it to your face for 10 minutes then with tepid water rinse and pat dry. It makes my skin feel baby soft. -
Oh my god. After using this face mask, my skin feels so refreshed !
I love it! I tryed so many face maskes and so many of them doesn´t work the way they are supposed to. I will use this again :) Thank you. -

I have the mask on right now lol! and I can tell that its not for those with sensitive skin. My skin is not very sensitive but I can also feel a little stinging around my nose when I first put it on. -
