Hi everyone,
I am so excited to introduce you to the newest series on MichellePhan.com: Must vs. Lust. Sometimes there are just those items that you know isn't a realistic prospect but one that you just lust over. You don't necessarily need it, but the urge is just too strong! It's all about finding an affordable option. That's what Must vs. Lust will help you do: identify the luxurious item you love and then provide you with a more realistic item for you to consider.
To kick it off, we're going to take a look at the ever-fabulous leopard print coat. It's a funky yet chic way to stay warm in these cold months. If you're looking to spice up an outfit that consists of solid colors, this is the perfect coat to throw on. Even though the print is very bold, a leopard coat is actually a versatile piece. I love the Mcginn Leopard Print Capelet, but it's pretty pricy at $500. The Forever 21 Leopard Faux Fur Jacket is much more affordable at $62.80, and it's still stylish. So the question remains, is this a must item or a lust item?
Will you go for the lust-inspiring coat or the affordable must option? Let me know in the comments section!

Animal print is always great! But not fur garments! There can be an alternative! No animal skin or fur in things we wear- we love animals!http://www.beautyartrush.com/fur-garments-%E2%80%93-the-peak-of-fashion-for-or-against/

i'm not a fan of leopard print myself, i think it's overdone and rather tacky...but in either case, i think the forever 21 coat is prettir anyway than the more expensive one!
i just did a post on my recent cheap jewellery finds from ebay! here - http://cloudsandcuticleoil.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/ebay-purchases-4.html

While spending $500 on a coat does seem a little extravagant (Unless you're filthy rich or something, haha!) I would look for a third option over the "must" catagory that you have up there. I have moral issues with the way Forever 21 runs their business and the companies they buy their clothing from, so I would look for a different place to get it.
I found a few alternatives on one of my favorite online stores, "ModCloth," which included actual coats, blazers, cardigans and other articles of clothing, all of which are fun and, in most cases, reasonably priced. Heres the link if you want to take a look!

My favorite I've found so far I think is "The Local Haute Spot" Blazer! :)

So this is my first comment ever on here :) I'm actually in a bit of a fashion dilemma! Last night i did some online shopping and i splurged on a white leopard print mini skirt with a hint of pink in it. I fell in love with it right away and the price was a steal! Problem is, i'm not quite sure what to wear with it or how to wear it! I tend to go out alot and could easily wear it to a party but i am not a fashionista so my closet is limited. I would love it if you could do an article on animal print clothing! Thanks :)

I don't like either. Leapord print has always seemed tacky to me, so I've never gone with it. Animal print = not me.

I absolutely cannot stand leopard print :/ especially on coats ... I don't think it's pretty ... especially if it's real fur ... -.-
I would say if you really want to get a leopard print coat, go and buy the faux fur one from forever21 ... it's cheaper, so you're not so upset or angry at the wasted money if you don't want to wear it anymore. AND it's faux fur, so no one animal has to die in vain, just to create a coat. I hope you'll read this and understand my point. And maybe even follow it. I hope so.

Anne

Walmart usually has a good selection of Animal print things. The "lust" coat looks pretty easy to make, so before you go spending the big bucks, see if you can't make it, or have one of your friends make it, first! Plus, compliments on such an adorable coat go much further when you get to add "Thanks! I made it!" You're so crafty, anyway, Michelle. I bet you could do it!

Oh, and I had a question for you Michelle: could you do a teen makeup tutorial? And using stuff you could get from like walmart or cvs? :) -
