Out with the old, in with the new!
Hi everyone,
A closet makeover is the perfect way to refresh your wardrobe when the seasons change or if life calls for something new and exciting. For example, if you break up with a boyfriend you should get rid of the clothes that remind you of him. I like to clear out my closet occasionally in order to donate the stuff that I don't wear anymore to charity or to my little sister! : )
I know you're thinking that cleaning isn't fun, but cleaning out your closet can be really easy and reinvigorating. Think of it as clearing out the past and welcoming in the new! And donating your unused items is much better than leaving them to collect dust in your closet, because there are plenty of people out there in need.
You don't have to go out and buy an entirely new wardrobe to do this; renovate your closet with a few new items in addition to your favorite staples. Buying new pieces for the new season is a great way to add something interesting to your style without spending a fortune.
Here's some inspo from my recent closet cleaning!

How often do you refresh your closet?

I usually try to keep in style with the season's trends, so piece by piece I buy an item of clothing that is in style for this season and simultaneously I put items of clothing that I will not wear again but is still in mint condition, in a pile to give to someone who will need clothes or to charity. So I clean out my closet with every trend change! I still keep some of my old season clothes though because my style is so weird and different. I mix and match some really weird stuff using a mix of last season's and this season's trends to make my own thing!

I try to refresh my closet after every summer and winter! I toss out clothes that are damaged beyond repair, make a pile of things that need to be fixed, and put old clothes in garbage bags for donation or to give to my friends.
After summer, you can throw out over- used tank tops, things with holes, and sweat stains! Box up cute dresses and shorts for re-using next year!
After winter, all the big, thick coats can go back in storage, along with winter boots, snow- clothes and long sleeved shirts. Throw out things that you didn't wear during the past year, and use christmas money to buy new things!
I also REALLY reccomend getting clear boxes to store all clothes you don't wear very often. Like costume pieces, dresses and heavy coats. It makes your closet look super organized, and keeps things from getting dirty or ruined.

Because I'm still growing, my clothes are constantly too small after 6 months, so I clean my closet almost every half year. I like to do it though.

Recently, I've been trying to spruce up my closet! It's funny that I looked at this post right before I was going to my closet.
I just know that I should take out clothes that I never wear, am tired of, and that don't look good on me. That way, I won't take as much time to get ready.
I also found two pieces in my closet that were never worn together but actually made a cute combo.

When my sister moved out of the room we shared and out the house, I took the opportunity to clean, organize, sort, and situate my closet and dresser and all my clothes. I kept some old clothes that still fit for heavy cleaning/yardwork/painting. And clothes I didn't want were sorted and put into bags to be donated.

You actually inspired me to go through my closet and donate some of my older cothes that were either too small or not my style anymore! :) I've been cleaning not just my closet though... I've been going through my entire room and throwing away the old things that remind me of the past. What's the point of holding onto painful memories? I'm going through a big change in my life and God has really been doing a makeover in my heart. I'm tired of the old and to symbolize that I'm going to repaint and redecorate my room ^.^ It's time for a fresh start!

I don't have closet only wardrobe. Every once in a month I'll rearrange it... I'll donate unfitted clothes to the orphanage home or give it to the unwealthy neighbour...

I'm actually in the middle of a closet makeover. xD That's so weird. I was just telling my mother today that you or Chriselle should do closet cleaning tutorials.

I'm too poor to buy new clothing :P If we talk shoes, I have 1 pair of boots, 1 pair of ballet flats, 1 pair of tenis and 2 heels... and that's pretty much it, lol
Where I come from, thrift stores aren't exactly the stores we see on TV, it's often a lot of oversized or ultra-small clothes, so either you have to spend hours looking for something that fits or you have to buy and get creative at home :P And I'm an odontology student, so I don't really have the time to get creative.
So, yeah... it's depressing enough when I only open up my closet, I'm not cleaning it up to end up with less clothing, lol -

I don't refresh my closet all that often anymore, as I'm too poor to buy clothing often, but I always, ALWAYS donate my used clothes! When I was a kid, right before school we would get new clothes, and then go through my dresser and closet to donate all my clothes that didn't fit or that I didn't wear. I take them to Deseret Industries, which sells the nice peices, and then fixes and cleans the not so nice pieces. What doesn't sell, and the fixed and cleaned clothes are taken into disaster areas or given to the less fortunate. My parents told me that they used clothing from DI when I was a baby. I've volunteered there, and I know they are grateful for everything. Most of the money is put into a fund to help the less fortunate and disaster victums.
