The Potato Eye Trick

Hi everyone,

Have you ever heard of putting potatoes on your eyes as a way to reduce bagginess and dark circles? Well it works! Potatoes have a cooling effect and can actually lighten dark under-eye circles. Who would have thought?! Mr. (or Miss!) Potato head should be proud! Take a cue from him and next time you have dark eyes wrap up a bit of grated raw potato in something like cheesecloth or gauze. Rest it on your eyes for about 10-15 minutes and that's it!

If you don't have any potatoes, you can always use cucumbers. Watch the video below to learn my DIY Ice Cucumber Pad method for puffy eyes and click here to read my blog post on it.

Have you ever heard of this potato trick before? Let me know if you give it a try!

<3 Mish

This is gonna sound crazy, but in the movie Miss Congeniality Sandra Bullock played Gracie Lu Freebush, and in a scene model trainer told her to put cream on her eyes. The cream I thought was antibiotic ointment. So with that said, I used my ring finger and put a little of that on my dark circles......and it worked! My dark circles were lightened, and it reduced bags. The sad part is that I'm almost 13 and I have bags under my eyes, and dark circles so bad that teachers have literally asked me if I was ok, and a kid in my grade asked me if I had gotten hit and got a black eye! But seriously people, try it before you hate it.

Wow that's so interesting! How on earth does the potato work I wonder? In terms of chemical reactions and the like.

Hey May (post 41), thanks for your tip! Is it correct to assume that you don't add any water to the powdered milk and mix it in dry? I'm interested in trying it out, cheers!

I wish I had a juicer or a blender to try this out! I've always had problems with dark circles and dry eyes.

Do you think that finely grating cucumbers and collecting the juice that way would work too? It's easy at that point to squeeze them out with paper towels or cheesecloth so I would think you'd get the same effect as if you juiced/blended them.

I use a mask of powdered milk with honey and potatoes. It works great for removing stains from your face.
Potatoes are perfect for removing stains of the face or clarify some specific parts of the face for example the darkcircles :D

Yo utilizo una mascarilla de leche en polvo con miel de abeja y papa. Me funciona muy bien para eliminar manchas de la cara.

Las papas son perfectas para eliminar machas de la cara o aclarar algunas partes especificas de la cara.

I did the cuccumber stuff too, but with slices of the cold cuccumber and it really, but. really feels sooo good!! :D

I've tried tea bags, they kind of work. I don't want to go to the trouble of buying cucumbers or potatos when we aren't going to eat them
