Words of Wisdom: The World According to Bob Ross
Hi everyone,
In case you didn't already know, someone who has been a major inspiration to me is Bob Ross. He was the host of a television show called The Joy of Painting where he would teach his viewers how to paint. Bob's calm, ethereal demeanor on screen is something that I like to think about when I'm doing my tutorials.
One of my favorite parts about The Joy of Painting is how Bob would give a tip on the mental approach to a particular step in creating the piece of art. They're often a little out there, but if you really think about what he's saying, you'll find that he's quite philosophical and deep.

Here are some of my favorite words of wisdom from Bob Ross:
"Let that happen. Let it happen."
"Once you learn to paint, it's not how, it's what to paint. And that is a problem."
"We're not really planning things at this point."

I don't really know what Bob Ross was on, and whether or not he meant for his little tidbits here and there to have such an effect on people, but he makes you think. He was more than just an art teacher.

I loved Bob Ross. When he would put a happy little tree there he always made me feel so calm. I heard he died of cancer. What a great loss.

I had no idea you girls like Bob Ross!!! I ♥ him so much, I missed no episode of his TV show (it was shown at Greece's national tv channel). The serenity and peace that emanate from his paintings are unique...

I have to admit, a lot of that, I like! I'm a writer, so if there's a mistake, I delete it. But sometimes, you have to let go. What I've planned in my novel is barely in there at all. Often, I find myself just writing. I may not even like it. But my only reader has told me many times that those are the moments in the book she loves the most.
While he barely made any sense, and I was NOT a fan, I really enjoyed some of those quotes! Thanks for posting!

omg i remember waking up early just to see his show... i learned a lot from him... my honey even got me the whole videos... yay!!!

Bob Ross talked like that because when he was in the Air Force he had to scream and yell at people all the time, so he vowed that when he was done he would stop being like that and talk with a soft voice and be generally pleasant.
I LOVE Bob Ross. He used to rescue squirrels and other forest animals. He was so talented and full of compassion. -

omg i was just thinking that " what is he on?' hahah get me some JK (im not into that at all) but yes he was extremally happy and talented and can def put u in a sleepy mood (in a good way because its so calming) After all he was great or is im not sure but i think he dies not long ago, or idk i might be mistaken .... Great stuff! .... talent like that is a blessing
