“Pastels are ‘in’ for spring!” – I think anyone who has picked up a magazine or browsed a fashion blog will have read this phrase at least a dozen times by now. Today, we all associate pale pinks, purples, greens and blues with the spring season. I even based one of my most recent makeup tutorials off of the pretty pastels in a spring bouquet! But there’s one pastel shade in particular that I’ve been crushing on this spring, and it’s called “Dusk Blue”. It’s one of Pantone’s Spring 2013 colors, along with emerald, poppy red and more.
*Fun fact: This dreamy dusk blue color is also called “Wedgwood” by some sources like InStyle mag. Wedgwood is actually the name of a pottery firm founded way back in the 1700’s that was famous for its “Wedgwood blue” china plates and vases with white embellishments.
Dusk blue is a soft, dreamy shade that reminds me a bit of periwinkle, but veers more on the blue side than the purple. It was all over spring runways at brands like Erdem and Givenchy, and I’m obsessed with the soothing, feminine color! Below, some gorg ladies flaunting pretty wedgwood frocks:
One of my favorite things about this color is the versatility – it gives off a soft and innocent vibe, but can also easily be translated into a flirtier look as well. Try mixing in fun dusk blue florals and stripes to your outfits to instantly freshen up your look. To incorporate dusk blue into your makeup regime, dust some shimmery pale blue into your crease, making sure to keep the rest of your makeup neutral like Nicole Richie does above. I rounded up some of my favorite dusk blue finds from the internet below:
What do you think of dusk blue? Would you wear it?
