Matte nail polish is a great way to subdue your nail color. For instance, say you want to wear a bright neon color but are concerned that the look is “too much” for your work or school environment. Adding a matte top coat to mattify the texture can actually quiet down the loudness of the color.
It’s not a look that’s for everyone, but it’s great for those who want to have that fun pop of color but don’t want anything too crazy. High gloss looks can sometimes draw too much attention or look too flashy, so a matte texture is a great way to add sophistication to any color. It can also make a glitter manicure more age-appropriate. With a variety of matte top coats on the market now (four of which are in the collage at the top), it’s an easy effect to add to a manicure if you need to tone it down in a hurry but don’t want to lose the polished look of your nails.
What do you think about matte top coats and matte polishes? Are there any colors that you like best for this look?
P.S. If you’ve tried any of the top coats in the collage, tell me which one is your favorite in the comments!
