When you have as many makeup products as I do, it can become a mess quickly. It’s tempting to leave makeup littered across the countertops and run off to complete the day’s events, but items can be lost or dirtied in the clutter, not to mention that you might get an earful from your roommates or family. While there are endless beauty storage products, you don’t have to spend a fortune on a new organization system. There are plenty of household items that can be turned into makeup storage instantly.
The containers below fit makeup brushes, pencils, mascara and perfume tubes perfectly, but it’s easy to find other containers for different products too. Just think of things you don’t use often that could be put on display and serve a purpose instead.
Mason jars serve so many more purposes than just canning these days, like vases for centerpieces and candle holders themselves. So if you have a jar or two stored high up in your closet, see if any of your cosmetics could be organized with them while they’re not in use.
Candle holders don’t look out of place in a bathroom or vanity, and come in so many sizes, you’re bound to find one that fits your needs. The one above is a lace scalloped candle holder from Ikea, and it looks like it was made for brushes!
Old tin containers have such unique prints and many of them are rare – you’ll never see the same design on your friend’s vanity. Head to your local thrift shop or browse Etsy for a tin that’s the perfect size to store your own makeup brushes. The one pictured above is large enough to fit more than just brushes, so it’s great for small spaces.
