I'm new to putting on make up and using facial cleansers. I was wondering if anybody has any tips or products that would be best. And do I use the cleanser when I want to take make up off or can I use before I put make up on?

ok well when using a facial cleanser you can use it to take you makeup off and AND before you put makeup on. The rand that I use is spectro gel. It works pretty well! there are many other good brands such as clean and clear! just find what works best for you

The neutrogena fresh foaming cleanser :) Its a cleanser and a make up remover, doesnt hurt to try it out, I got mine at target for around $5. Its good to use it before and after too :) Its good to have a fresh clean face before you apply on make up of any kind.

I used to use that, you will have to be careful not to exfoliate over inflammed acne or cystic acne because its only going to irritate it, when i exfoliate i do it on my forehead and on the sides of my face not the middle because thats most sensitive. Exfoliate only once a week to remove dead skin cells because thats how you break out, the natural oil is trying to get out of your pores but the dead skin cells is keeping it in :)

You should try the green tea facial wash from st ives, around $5 and i would use a facial brush to clean my face with :) there is one at sephora for like $9 i think but im pretty sure you can buy it at other places for a much cheaper price.

I use the Aveeno Daily Essentials Foaming Cleanser. (I think that's what it's called!(: ) It's very gentle and very effective. I also use the Aveeno Smart Essentials Daily Detoxifying Scrub. It brings out the good in my skin and washes away any dirt and impurities. Before, I had a few pimples on and around my nose, most likely from makeup and stuff. And now, they've been fading away pretty well. I've only been using it for about a week and a half!! I love it so far(:

Having a clean canvas to work with is really important, for when makeup is put on dirty skin, it does more bad than good. The routine is cleansing-toning-moisturizing:)

April,

Cleansing is the most important step when it comes to skin care. You use a cleanser before applying makeup to give you a blank, clean canvas to work with. I wrote a post on my blog about how to cleanse properly. I hope it helps you. Long story short, cleanse at night with a clean, soft washcloth to get everything off from the day. And, for now cleanse in the morning when you get up. You don't have to use your cleanser when you clean your skin in the morning, you can just use warm water with your washcloth.

Email me if you want to chat some more. I'd be happy to help. :)

Best of luck!

I have a really great DIY facial exfoliator: take 2-3 tbsp of rolled oats (plain oatmeal) and crush it up, next add a tbsp of honey, lastly add 1/4 of apple cider vinegar and mix it up until you get a thick paste. On a clean face just rub it on in circular motion and let it set for about ten minutes, then with tepid water rinse the mask off and pat dry for a smooth and glowing finish.
