I'm a 45 year old woman and need to lose about 30 pounds and it sure would be nice to keep it off. Other than being overweight I am in good health, no problems that I know of. In the past I have lost weight by starving myself, so of course I lost weight but then gained it back. I have been doing some reading about diets that work. The South Beach Diet sounds pretty good to me I found some information about it at http://dietsthatworkgood.com Does anybody have any advice for me.
An easy way to loose that is by cutting out fast foods and sodas. If you must have a soda then limit yourself to having one diet soda a day at most. Keep in mind that diet sodas contain an artifical sweetner that changes the chemical processing in the body making a person hungry. I also suggest that you drink a glass of water before every meal and excersie at least 5 times a week. Even if you only walk for 30 minutes a day will do you good. Excersie will boost your metabolism. You wanna keep your metabolism running and a good way to do that is by eating every 3 to 4 hours. This means eating the three basic meals a day. In between breakfast and lunch have a snack and in between lunch and dinner have another snack. There are also foods that will help boost your metabolism like yogurt, cinnamon and green tea.
i personally maintain a healthy weight by eating low fat oatmeal with assorted berries and orange juice each morning, and for lunch i eat a rye and turkey sandwich with green beans, then for dinner, i can have whatever i want- within reason, of course
