For most of us, summer is close; that means rainy days are over, but we’re still struggling between inconsistent weather days. Since it’s not too hot all day long, this can be a confusing time for our wardrobes—in the morning we put on a sweater only to feel silly walking around in the beaming sun that afternoon. Luckily, a few closet staples will solve your weather woes, and have you confidently stepping out in style.
Crop Top – ‘Tis the season for crop tops! The Topshop Cornelli Crop Top is great for pairing with high-waisted skirts and denim jackets. When the day warms up, go without the jacket and you’re ready to soak up the sun!
Mini Dress – A short dress in a bright, solid color like this Dorothy Perkins Pale Blue Textured Dress is a must for layers. Because of its length, minis work well with kimono jackets and oversized cardigans, yet you won’t overheat.
Kimono – Boho chic and full of stunning prints, kimonos are the perfect way to transition from spring to summer. The light fabrics are essential for times when you’re not sure if a tank top is appropriate. Then, you can use it as a chic swimsuit cover up on beach days. Try one with a bold print and lots of fringe like the River Island Pink Floral Kimono.
Midi Skirt – Don’t retire that spring midi skirt just yet, it’s a staple for ALL weather. You can’t go wrong with a midi, crop top, and some cute wedges. H&M’s Calf-Length Skirt is light enough for warm weather, but you’ll love the length when the breeze sets in!
Versatile Flat – While you may already have a shoe for every occasion, what about a pair that can transition from work to the beach and beyond? Flats that look good with everything from skirts to shorts and skinnies are essential for this time of year. I like the Report D’orsay Flat because the cut out and pointed toe take a casual summer outfit up a notch.
