Do you wear pads or tampons? Or is this topic totally TMI? Yeah, I thought so…but in an effort to keep it real with you ladies, I’m going to let you in on a little secret: I have never EVER worn a tampon.
Growing up, my mother didn’t allow me to wear tampons (I won’t give you details as to why, although I’m sure most of you who know how Asian moms are will understand), and to this day I still wear pads. I know, I know, this is probably TMI–but you’ve all seen me without makeup and I’m going to keep it real here!
Beyond my mother’s wishes, here are a few of my own reasons why I prefer pads over tampons:
1) I think that gravity should do all the work. If it’s meant to leak out (eww, I know, but bear with me!) then I don’t want to plug it all up (ewww, I know, I know!).
2) I would get worried if I left my tampon in too long. I get paranoid with things like that and with so many other things to worry about, I want to worry less when I’m on my period.
3) Pads are easier. I mean, I’ve read the instructions that come with a box of tampons–I’ve even tried to use a tampon once (tried, and failed miserably!). Believe me, I was in the bathroom for 30 minutes and ended up like a contortionist in the stall. Not pretty.
What about you, do you wear pads or tampons? Or do you keep it all natural and just let it flow! HAHAHAHA! Omg, I’m terrible!

I received hundreds of emails, messages and questions from girls with questions for me following this post. I love giving good advice, but I honestly didn’t have any to offer : / … Which is why Being Girl and Tampax teamed up to create YouTube’s BeingGirl, a channel with topics about growing up and more. Check it out and watch the video below if you have any questions or concerns
