Even though a lot of runway beauty looks have to be toned down a bit to translate to real life, these three trends don’t need any tweaking – they’re fresh, easy and totally wearable! So whether you’re still looking for prom makeup ideas or are just in desperate need of a beauty pick-me-up, look no further – your inspiration awaits:
Emerald is the “color of the year” for 2013 according to Pantone, and adding a pop of the jewel tone to your lower waterline is the perfect way to introduce it to your beauty regimen. Use an emerald liner like Lancôme’s Khôl in Love in Jade or even a high-pigment eyeshadow like Make Up Forever in Iridescent Lagoon Green to line your waterline, then clean up and thin out the line with a Q-tip. Keep the rest of your look natural (I would skip the heavy blush and just swipe on your favorite lip balm) and let your eyes do the talking.
Bright, Matte Lips
As much as I love a pretty nude lip, the bright lip colors on the runway this season really stole the show! Try adding a pop of coral, pink or even orange (for you adventurous types to your lips for a totally spring-ready look. I would stick with matte formulas, to avoid the risk of appearing too juvenile or clownish. If you’re going to rock a bright matte lip, skip the heavy eyeliner and eye shadow and swipe on some highlighter instead – it’ll tone down your look for daytime (try making your own DIY illuminator for the perfect angelic glow). The New Messy Bun
This season’s take on the messy bun is low slung and knotted, perfecting the “messy chic” look. Added bonus? This style works best on wet or day-old hair, so it’s great for days when you need to just get up and go! Just twist, tie and pin For extra volume, spray some dry shampoo into your hair and tease the crown with a comb.
